Kuliatan Marine Sanctuary in Sinugbohan
The sanctuary's story began with a dire situation. Overfishing, including destructive practices like dynamite fishing, cyanide fishing, and spear fishing, had decimated the marine life in the area, leaving fishermen with dwindling catches and a bleak future [1]. In 2008, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) partnered with San Joaquin to establish a Coastal Resource Management (CRM) program, including the creation of marine protected areas (MPAs)
